Margin Steward was built by Brendan Roberts, a cost optimization practitioner and software engineer based in Boulder, CO.
After two decades designing software, he watched layoffs grow increasingly pervasive and cold. He asked "don't these companies waste money on other things that they should clean up first?" He pulled on that thread and learned that yes, they do, and there is almost always work to be done here.
The tools and resources here grew out of work with CFOs, controllers, and finance professionals who needed something more structured than a spreadsheet and more flexible than a consultant's slide deck.
